1. Discovering New Music: I live for this. (Nylon Good Listener)

Includes new tracks from CocoRosie, Little Daylight, Dillon Francis, Only Real, & Empress Of.  My particular favorites were CocoRosie’s “Life After The Afterlife”, and Little Daylight’s “Name In Lights”.

2. Amazingly Fashionable, yet functional camera bags? Yes Puhleez.  (Rebecca Minkoff Camera Bags)

This baby is listed as a “multi-functional cross body bag & camera case”, which originally came in a beautiful pastel blue and tan/yellow combo–which were perfect for spring.  Now I see the black+green combo is still listed.

3. Say No to Muffin-tops! (Glamour Magazine’s All New Muffin-top Workout)

Let’s be real, almost every woman I speak to lately is kicking the summer workout preparation into high gear.  Thanks to Glamour Magazine, we now have a few workouts to keep in our arsenal.

5. Oysters + Good Drinks + Good Friends= Oysterfest! (Living Social)

I have gone on some awesome adventures, scored great deals, and even met two of my close friends via Living Social!  It was at a screening for “Water For Elephants” + Free drinks & horderves at the rooftop of the Empire Hotel + a $10 gift certificate for Amazon (to purchase the W.F.E. book).  No doubt good times to be had at this Oyster Fest hosted by iAdventure.com, another great site!

 6. The Green Festival! (This weekend in NYC)

I was lucky enough to win some free passes to the Green Festival in NYC this weekend (Thanks to my friends at Christopher Drummond Beauty for giving the heads up!) In case you missed the passes, no worries—the tickets are not that expensive at all (especially in comparison to other trade shows).  The website states, “ New York City Green Festival is renowned for its rich and inspiring keynote presentations, workshops, demonstrations, artistic installations and interactive fun. Listen, learn, discuss and connect in a weekend packed with locally and nationally acclaimed social and environmental authors, leaders, experts, celebrities, advocates and cultural icons”.

7. Leo Dicaprio + The Great Gatsby (Your Gatsby First Listen — From Bey To Del Rey) Soundtrack available 5.7, Movie 5.10!

Being a huge fan of Baz Luhrmann’s”Romeo + Juliet” movie & soundtracks, I was intrigued to hear the sample video and watch the newest trailer, which “gives listeners a glimpse into the dark, tech-infused Beyoncé cover of Amy Winehouse, a ballad by Lana Del Rey, and a massively major tune by Florence + The Machine”.

8. The Beauty Department’s (Beauty Sourcing Guide)

Even though I believe some great sources were left out, this is a great list.  Although there a few places that I believe are local to the L.A. area, I believe many Makeup Artist (And makeup lovers alike) will benefit from this Beauty Source Guide.  I’ve compiled lists in the past of favorite places central to the New York area, but I never published it.  Comment below if you’d be interested in seeing my version of this, New Yawk style

9. Beauty Swatch: (Pout Perfect)

 In regards to the beauty world, there is not many things I appreciate more then a well done, true to color, swatch of makeup.  Leave it to Yishan Chan of BeautySwatch.com to deliver the most comprehensive collection of professionally taken lip swatches on the net.  Click the link above to see what I mean.  Want more? Don’t Pout! Actually, you can– thanks to Chan’s e-book Pout Perfect.  I don’t own it myself yet, but I’m seriously considering buying it.  As a Makeup Artist & Teacher, I believe we are all lifelong learners, and I’m looking forward to picking up a thing or two from this book!

TUTORIAL:

To line my brows, I first combed them with a brush and then filled them in using M.A.C.’s “Brown Down” eye shadow the 266 brush.  I used a light hand first lining underneath my brows, then the top of my arch, holding the brush horizontally.   I then flipped the brush vertically and  continued to fill my brows using small motions going with the grain of my hair.  Lastly, I lined the beginning of my brows vertically, going against the grain of my hair, lightly blending out the color.

After I applied a piece of tape from the outer most corner of my eye to the tail of my brows, I applied M.A.C.’s Soft Ocre Paint Pot  to both eyes using my fingers.  Using the Korres Soft Eyeliner Pencil in Black, I lined the outer corners of my eyes into a “v-shape”, lightly filled in that v-shape, and began to smudge the shadow inwards with the M.A.C. 231 brush leaving the color most intense towards the outside of my eyes.  I applied Christopher Drummond Beauty’s Finale Finishing Powder with a M.A.C. 224 Brush underneath both eyes to catch the eyeshadow fall-out.

I then applied the “Immortal” eyeshadow from the Tarte for True Blood palette using the M.A.C. 231 brush directly on top of the “outer v” I have created, again the intensity being the most saturated at the outer corners of the eyes–blending in.  Taking mark.’s blending brush, I applied the shadow in “Dusk” from the Tarte palette as a transition color beginning from my crease, to right before my brow bone begins.  To intensify the look further, I concentrated the shadow in “Werewolf” into the actual crease using the pencil brush side from the Coastal Scents duo ended blending brush.  For the eyelids, I applied the color “Waitress” with my ring finger.  I find that eyeshadows that have glitter or shimmer apply a lot quicker and have better “pay-off”, when applied in layers using the heat from your finger.

After cleaning the Coastal Scents pencil brush, I applied a mixture of the “Charmer” and “Telepath” eyeshadows with the C.S. Pencil brush from the tear duct towards the first lid color.  I then concentrated the shades “Bayou” & “Dawn” just in the tear duct area of my eye with that same pencil brush.  Flipping that same brush around (to reveal the shader brush side), I dabbed some of the “Nocturnal” shade on top of the “outer v” area, blending into the lid color.  Using the M.A.C. 231 brush and mark.’s Keep It Going Longwear Eye liner & Shadow in “Surreal” (blue shade), I lined my lower lash line with the creamy blue color.  The line should be made thicker from the outer corner of the lash line, thinning out towards the inner corner.  Using the same shadow “Nocturnal”, I applied it on top of the blue creamy color to lock that shade in the entire evening using patting motions.  I lined my waterline with the Korres Soft Eyeliner Pencil in Black, locking in that color with the M.A.C. 231 brush and the “Legend” eye shadow.

To complete this eye look, I lined my top lids with the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid  eye liner.  In order to get the best application, I applied it in short strokes, which helped me fill in any gaps that might appear between lashes.  Lastly I curled my eyes with the mark. Eyelash Curler, and applied Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara to the bottom lashes and Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara to the top lashes.

My lip look was achieved using a pecan toned lip liner and finished off with Christopher Drummond Beauty’s Shiraz Lip Stain.

Pure Remedy Intense Repair Oil

• At $49.99 for 3.4 oz’s, the Repair Intense Oil from NuMe’s Pure Remedy line packs a powerful punch.  NuMe lists this product as a “weightless, nutrient-rich oil formulated with moisturizing shea butter, Jojoba, and grapeseed oil rich in proteins and minerals, the vital nutrients in this beneficial oil strengthen damaged an over-processed tresses for shiny, smooth, friz-free hair.”  I am an avid hair oil user, and I have to say– I am really impressed with this one.  It’s lighter then other well known hair oils, but the ends of my hair still feel nourished.  My only CON for this product is the design of the packing.  The opening is large for an oil in my opinion, and could have been designed better.

The theme for this collection is via Junko Yoshioka:

Junko Yoshioka decided to change things up this season by showing her airy, Parisian-inspired wedding dresses on a “virtual runway” instead of the traditional catwalk during Bridal Fashion Week. The result is this up-close-and-personal video, which offers fans of the Japanese designer front row access to her glittering, layered confections.

Look one: Look one began with a very clean face with emphasis on the model amazing bone structure via contouring & highlighting.  For the eyes we used pinks, silver, and gold.  The lips were lined and colored with a flesh toned pink.

Look two:  As the look progressed, I custom mixed a berry lip shade to the designer’s liking, intensified the eyeliner, and highlighted the top of the cheekbones more to give this model a more romantic look.

Look three: For the most dramatic of the three looks, I again custom blended a new lip shade for the model, intensified the eyes by adding a pop of colored eyeshadow on the top and bottom eyeliner, and add a touch of highlight to the tip of her lips.

Cool J.Lo Tid-bit: I met her many moons ago while she was filming scenes from “Maid In Manhattan” in a Brooklyn Subway, and she is super sweet and down to earth!  She’s my height! I LOVED that fact that she was pint size like moi.  I met her twice I still have her autograph and photograph that I took that day =)

Price: Not listed at the time this post was written. The duo’s for Pure Ice’s last collection Crackle & Ice, which I reviewed HERE, went for $5.98.

Pros:

• The concept of infusing the color into the crackle nail polish, allowing it to magically defuse on to the white magic base, makes this collection is the most ORIGINAL I have seen as it pertains to the “Crackled” nail trend.

Cons:

• Be careful in the application of the white magic base, as not to result in a streaky application.
